The DLR Climate Action Team have distributed grants totalling €883,000 to 28 local community organisations across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown today. Congratulations to all the local community organisations who successfully applied, including sports clubs, residents associations and church groups.
Naomh Ólaf GAA Club have been to the forefront of community climate action over the past few years and they’ve been granted almost €100k for rooftop solar panels and water-saving measures at the clubhouse.
Ski Club of Ireland: €80k for new energy efficient LED floodlights
Wayside Celtic FC: €28.5 for solar panels on the clubhouse
Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC: €25k for solar panels on the clubhouse
Kilternan Parish: €20k for solar panels on the community building
Dublin Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (Marlay Park): €25k for solar panels on the clubhouse
Dundrum Methodist Church in Ballinteer: almost €80k for solar panels, insulation, eco-garden and bike shelter.
Fernhill Community Garden: €4.8k for rainwater harvesting system, fruit cages and composting facilities.
Sandyford Downs Residents Association: €1.2k for the community garden
Delbrook Park Residents Association: €12k for fruit trees, pollinators, mini forest and orchard
Pine Valley Residents Association: €1.7k for a mini forest
Airfield Estate: €27k for community garden and energy efficient upgrades

The Community Climate Action Fund is an initiative introduced by the Green Party through the Minister for Environment and Climate Action. There was a great response by organisations in Glencullen-Sandyford and Rathdown more widely and I was happy to advertise these grants to groups and residents in my area through my newsletter and website.
