Cllr Oisín O'Connor

Green Party Councillor for Glencullen-Sandyford, including Ballinteer, Stepaside, Kilternan, Leopardstown, Ballyogan & Glenamuck

Today, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council have opened up a public consultation on the refurbishment of playgrounds in Belarmine, Marlay Park and The Gallops. I shared an update back in September on the plans for playgrounds in the area and these upgrades are long overdue.

You can read the details of the public consultation and make your submission here on the newly refurbished playgrounds for Belarmine, Marlay Park and The Gallops. The consultation will run from 20th November to 11th December.

It’s really important that parents, children, grandparents and other carers have their say so please get involved with the public consultation as much as you can. If there is anything that I can be of assistance with, please let me know.

Thank you to residents groups and families in the areas for advocating improvements to these playgrounds over the last number of years. The council undertook an objective assessment of each playground across the county but the interest that communities take in the facilities in their area has a bearing on projects being prioritised too.

Separately, there will be new playgrounds built in Fernhill, Kilcross/Sandyford and Meadowbrook in 2024 and public consultations will open up for these in the coming weeks.

I look forward to supporting all of these facilities on the council as I have at all times in the past. I will also be supporting the inclusion of inclusive play equipment in each playground as a bare minimum.
