Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are proposing a new park in Sandyford Business District, the “Sandyford Civic Park” and we’re looking for your views on what should be in the park. The new park is being developed in collaboration with Sandyford Business Improvement District.

I have been pushing for progress on Sandyford Civic Park for years now and I’m very happy that we’re at this stage at last.

A civic park is a public park with uses for public and community events and activities in addition to the traditional greening and landscaping of an open space. You can read more about the Sandyford Civic Park project here.
We’ve opened a public survey that runs from 25th June up to the 6th August 2025, with an online survey to gather your views on the new Sandyford Civic Park. If you live in or near Sandyford Business District, work or visit there, we really want your views on what this new green space will bring to the area.
A civic park is a public park with uses for public and community events and activities in addition to the traditional greening and landscaping of an open space.
The site for the civic park is relatively small at 0.8 hectares. Therefore space is at a premium and should be used as efficiently as possible. We would like to know from the public how they see the use of this space and also, who should be the main beneficiaries for this space. Your creative ideas for the use of the space and for features of the civic park are most welcome!
If you have any big ideas for the park that you’d also like to share with me directly, please let me know by email ooconnor@cllr.dlrcoco.ie. I’d be happy to propose any good ideas to the design team.
As always, I’m available to you as a local resident with any issues you may have – you can reach me at ooconnor@cllr.dlrcoco.ie.
