I’ve received an update on the Glenamuck District Roads Scheme for June 2025 from the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council project team. If you have any questions or issues you’d like raised about the project, please contact Pat O’Sullivan (BAM Public Liaison Officer) on 0868584861 or myself by email.

I did an explainer here previously on the whole project.

Here is the June 2025 update on the Glenamuck District Road Scheme received from the DLR project team. You can also download it as a PDF here.

Glenamuck District Roads Scheme – December 2024 Update

The Glenamuck District Road Scheme involves building a new 1.5km road (GDDR) running roughly parallel to the existing Glenamuck Road, and another new 1.8km road (GLDR) which runs roughly parallel to the existing Enniskerry Road. The project also upgrades part of the existing Glenamuck Road and introduce a bus gate at its junction with the GLDR. A map of the overall scheme is available at this link.

Works Update – GDDR

The GDDR is almost ready to open. The traffic management at De La Salle Palmerston rugby club and the Carrickmines Retail park has been removed, and the GDDR is scheduled to open fully on June 19th, after final commissioning of the public lighting and traffic signals.

Glenamuck Road

At the same time as the GDDR opens, the existing Glenamuck Road will be closed to through vehicular traffic south of the Brambledown estate in order to enable the upgrade of the existing Glenamuck Road from the Brambledown estate to the Golden Ball junction. Pedestrian access will remain in place. The bus service will be maintained by the introduction of a temporary bus turning circle opposite Brambledown.

Traffic management from 19th June to July 2025

July 2025

In July, one way traffic management will be introduced from the Golden Ball junction to the GLDR junction. This will allow for the upgrade of Glenamuck Road between the Golden Ball junction and Brambledown and for the introduction of footpaths and cycle tracks either side of the new road. This Traffic Management arrangement will be in place for the remainder of the year.

Traffic management from July 2025 to December 2025

Ballycorus Road

Drainage and paving works on Ballycorus Road are scheduled to begin in July 2025 and will continue for a number of months. This will involve two way stop/go traffic management operating under traffic lights. The more significant road works will take place over July and August 2025 during the schools closure, and offline works are likely to continue until Christmas 2025.

Barnaslingan Lane

Works on Barnaslingan Lane over the summer 2025 will involve short duration two way stop/go traffic management to facilitate installation of drainage and ducting along the GLDR. Barnaslingan Lane will be connected into the GLDR in Q1 of 2026

Construction of the overall Scheme is scheduled to be complete in Q1 2026.
