Cllr Oisín O'Connor

Green Party Councillor for Glencullen-Sandyford, including Ballinteer, Stepaside, Kilternan, Leopardstown, Ballyogan & Glenamuck

At last night’s Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council meeting, we approved the taking in charge of the Bishop’s Gate estate in Kilternan. Good news for all residents of Bishop’s Gate as the council will now take over the maintenance and upkeep of the estate. Back in October, I published the information on the taking in charge of Bishop’s Gate and the public consultation here.

There were seven submissions to the public consultation and you can see the details of those submissions and the responses from the council officials here.

The main issues raised were:
– traffic calming for the estate
– traffic calming on Enniskerry Road outside the estate
– request for parking enforcement and parking restrictions in the estate
– construction vehicles for neighbouring developments using the road in Bishop’s Gate
– more green areas and play equipment
– pedestrian/cycle links into neighbouring estates

Now that Bishop’s Gate is taken in charge, these issues can be added to the council’s programme of works. If you are a resident of Bishop’s Gate and would like to make specific requests for the estate, please reach out to me on [email protected] or below:

The council have taking in charge guidelines here which are applied to all estates and areas taken in charge by developers.
