Cllr Oisín O'Connor

Green Party Councillor for Glencullen-Sandyford, including Ballinteer, Stepaside, Kilternan, Leopardstown, Ballyogan & Glenamuck

The council are planning to develop a new pocket park here at Lamb’s Cross, opposite the shops. The plan is to get everyone’s views on what kind of facilities should go here and the council will use all those views to put a design together.

This could be a great local bit of green space, near to the shops, across from St Mary’s School, the Sandyford Community Centre and other local amenities.

I’d love to see benches, a water refill station, fruit trees and small pieces of play equipment for small kids. What do you think?

The consultation opens from Friday 4th July 2025, until Friday 25th July 2025 and you can give your views through the online survey here:

This initiative aims to enhance the areas liveability by providing a new, inviting green space for relaxation, recreation, and social interaction. Pocket parks are compact and serve local users, they can offer unlimited potential for creative and meaningful use.  The council are seeking your input and ideas to ensure the park aligns with the needs and preferences of our community.

Lamb's Cross Pocket Park

Why a Pocket Park?

Enhance Community Liveability: Pocket parks offer a valuable opportunity to create vibrant, walkable localities, encouraging a sense of place and belonging.

Provide Relaxation and Recreation: These spaces provide opportunities for residents to relax, enjoy nature, and engage in light recreational activities.

Foster Social Interaction:  Pocket parks can serve as gathering places for neighbours to connect, share experiences, and build relationships.

Improve Access to Green Spaces: They provide a much-needed measure of nature and green space.

The consultation program aims to:

  • Gather ideas from the community
  • Determine users of this space
  • Identify the park’s primary functions and amenities
