I am looking for your number 1 vote on the 7th June and here are some of my achievements in the 3.5 years I have been a councillor for Glencullen-Sandyford.
Please ensure that you are registered to vote by going to voter.ie before 11.59pm on Monday the 20th May (it takes 2 minutes). If you are resident in our area, you are eligible to vote. You do not need to be an Irish citizen.
As your councillor, I have:
- Supported the building of 10,000 new homes in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Including cost rental housing for middle income earners in Sandyford and Kilternan. I have supported measures in the County Development Plan (used by planners to assess planning applications) that will lead to more sustainable development while increasing supply of all types of homes.
- Delivered active travel and road safety improvements in your area. These include zebra crossings, improved accessible footpaths, traffic calming initiatives and resurfaced cycle tracks. Read more about plans for Stepaside, Sandyford village, Sandyford Business District and our overall DLR Active Travel plans. I’m particularly proud of the new zebra crossing I secured on Village Road in Aiken’s Village in 2022:
- I have always stood up for pedestrians’ right to accessible footpaths, free from clutter and illegal obstructions.
- Helped to future-proof the DLR Climate Action Plan to make it more ambitious. Read more here and we are rolling out ambitious grants to support community groups and sports clubs with their climate action efforts.
- Overseen council efforts to cut emissions by electrifying our fleet and upgrading our buildings. Read more here.
- Driven an increase in tree planting and protected pollinator areas. For example this recent Community Woodland tree planting day in Belarmine was funded by budgets the Greens fought for in budget negotiations.
- Secured new community infrastructure such as teenage facilities, sports infrastructure and playgrounds. In Meadowbrook, Ballyogan, Sandyford, Marlay, The Gallops and Belarmine.
- Amended the County Development Plan to protect Wildlife Corridors and areas of Kilternan. Read more here.
- Ensured better management of Marlay Park concerts to minimise impact on local residents. Read about last year’s Marlay concerts here and some of the future plans for Marlay Park here. We are also upgrading the local small junior playground in Marlay Park.
